Hello... new DR-05X owner here

Hello everyone. I bought a DR-05X earlier in the year for 'found audio' work. I couldn't go out at the time (Covid and all that) so shouldn't have bought it, but got pulled in by a deal! Still, I broke the machine out yesterday, inserted the SanDisk 64gb Ultra card I bought for it, and... voila... the card was invalid. This was one of the 'recommended or the DR-05X' cards too. Ordered something else now. However, it also went on to give me an 'Invalid Sys File' error and the manual makes no mention of such a thing. Csn anyone advise me please? I wanted the machine for: contributing to my internet radio show (making jingles, and idents and such), and now as I'm doing an Award in Music Technology course I have to go out at some point and record ambient and environmental sounds to make into music. I'm sure the kit will do it, just need to get the right card in, but the sys file error has thrown me. I'm 64 now so I'm not as technically sharp or proficient as I was in the days of cassette decks, 8 tracks, and hitting boxes to make drum sounds! Gx

Hi Geoff, and welcome to the Tascam Forums. I'm not an expert in that model, but can you navigate to the menu for formatting the SD card?

Hello MJK, no, I can't seem to. It 'stalls' at 'invalid card' and won't let me do too much after that, I assume because there's nothing to record on to at that point. When the new card arrives I'll try it and report back! Gx

Hi, new DR-05 user here. Same happened to me with a 64 GB and a 32 GB card. Only a 2 GB was accepted. I don't know if it's a software issue or what . Let us know if it works with another card
